Sea Tel Dual Network Arbitrator 40-153788

Rack-mounted arbitrator for 2 modem/2 antenna operation, with GPS pass-through and OpenAMIP.

The Sea Tel Dual Network Arbitrator (40-153788) is a rack-mounted switch for 2 modem and 2 antenna marine operation. It switches automatically on blockage, sudden AGC loss or power failure, and supports GPS pass-through, OpenAMIP and ABS protocols, and TCP/IP switching.

  • Handles 2 modems and 2 antennas, not just modem sharing on one dish
  • Automatic switching on blockage, AGC loss or power failure
  • GPS pass-through; OpenAMIP and ABS protocol support; TCP/IP switching

Description

A stabilised maritime antenna is an expensive asset and a vessel does not always have a spare one. The difficulty is that a satellite network is not a single thing: an operator may have a primary service and a backup on a different network, or two antennas covering different bands or regions, or a committed-rate service for operational traffic running alongside a cheaper one for crew. Each of those wants control of whatever hardware is available at the moment it is needed.

The Sea Tel Dual Network Arbitrator (40-153788) is a rack-mounted switch built for exactly that: 2 modem and 2 antenna marine operation. That is worth being precise about, because it is not simply two modems sharing one dish - it arbitrates across two antenna systems as well as two modems, so a vessel with two stabilised antennas can have the arbitrator move traffic between them, not only between services on a single one.

Switching happens automatically on the events that actually matter at sea: blockage of the active antenna's view, a sudden loss of AGC (the signal-strength feedback that shows the link is failing), or a power failure on the active path. The unit also passes GPS through to whichever antenna needs it, and supports the OpenAMIP and ABS protocols along with TCP/IP switching - the control languages that let it talk to the antenna controllers and modems from different manufacturers rather than being locked to one make of each.

The kit ships as a rack-mount enclosure with 110V and 220V power cords, an SMA cable and adapter, an RJ-45 serial cable and a CAT5 cable - everything needed to wire it into an existing equipment room without sourcing cabling separately.

The point to establish before ordering is the actual modem and antenna inventory, because that is what determines the configuration: which two antennas, which modems, on which networks, and what should switch automatically versus on command. We work through that with the service provider, since the arbitrator has to match the antenna controllers and the contracted services rather than just the hardware. Part number 40-153788 is the dual-network, dual-antenna configuration; we confirm it against your actual equipment at quotation.

Features

  • 2 modem / 2 antenna operation. Arbitrates across two antenna systems as well as two modems, not just modem sharing on one dish.
  • Automatic failover triggers. Blockage, sudden AGC loss or power failure on the active path.
  • GPS pass-through. Passed to whichever antenna needs it.
  • OpenAMIP and ABS protocol support. Talks to antenna controllers and modems from different manufacturers.
  • TCP/IP switching. Network-level control alongside the hardware switching.
  • Rack mounted, cabled kit. Ships with power cords, SMA and CAT5 cables ready to install.
  • Configured to your equipment. Specified from the actual modem and antenna inventory, with the provider involved.

Applications

Any vessel or facility running more than one satellite network or antenna.

  • Vessels with two stabilised antennas. Automatic failover between them on blockage, AGC loss or power failure.
  • Offshore support and construction vessels. Operational and welfare traffic on separate services.
  • FPSOs and floating facilities. Redundant antennas and links.
  • Vessels trading across regions. Different providers covering different areas.
  • Fleets changing provider. Running old and new services in parallel through a transition.
  • Mixed-vendor installations. OpenAMIP and ABS protocol support bridges antenna controllers and modems from different manufacturers.

Support & Documents

PT Vivo Asia Teknologi Indonesia supplies satellite communications with the airtime, installation and support around it, not just the hardware. Our scope typically covers:

  • Selection against your coverage area, bandwidth requirement and budget.
  • Antenna siting: blockage survey, radiation-hazard clearance and mounting design.
  • Supply, installation, termination, pointing and commissioning.
  • Airtime provisioning, and network configuration alongside any existing link.
  • Integration with the vessel or site network, including failover between links.
  • Ongoing support, monitoring and maintenance.

Coverage, throughput, approvals and electrical details vary by variant and service plan and are confirmed at quotation stage. Tell us the operating area, the applications you need to carry and any link already in place, and we will come back with the right configuration and a full bill of materials.
