Universal AC/DC supply for SAILOR equipment: 24 V DC at 7 A, auto-switching from mains.
The SAILOR N163S is a universal AC/DC power supply outputting 24 V DC at 7 A and 170 W, taking 110/220 V AC input and automatically switching between mains and 24 V DC power to keep SAILOR radio, satellite and tracking equipment running.
Input110/127 V AC (fuse T2A) or 220/237 V AC (fuse T1A), 160 VA, 50/60 Hz
SwitchingAutomatic between AC mains and 24 V DC
Operating range-15 to +55 degrees C, 93% RH
Size and weight225 x 168 x 97 mm (excl. cable seals), 5.0 kg
Description
A GMDSS radio has to keep working through a mains failure, and the N163S is what makes
that automatic rather than something a crew member has to notice and act on. It is described
as a universal AC/DC power supply that switches automatically between AC mains power and
24 V DC - so the moment the ship's AC drops, the radio is already running from the DC side,
with no gap for the equipment to reset in.
The output is 24 V DC at 7 A, 170 W, which is the standard SAILOR radio supply rail. Input
accepts both 110/127 V AC, fused at T2A, and 220/237 V AC, fused at T1A, drawing 160 VA at
50 or 60 Hz - so the same part serves an installation wired to either regional standard
without a different model number. Being the manufacturer's own supply also matters for
approval: SAILOR radio equipment is type-approved as a system, and a generic bench supply of
nominally the same rating is not part of that approval even if the numbers look
equivalent.
Environmentally it is rated -15 to +55 degrees C at 93 percent relative humidity, which
covers an unheated equipment space in the tropics as much as a cold-climate vessel. It
measures 225 x 168 x 97 mm excluding cable seals and weighs 5.0 kg. Where the installation
forms part of a GMDSS arrangement, this supply is specified together with the reserve battery
it charges and switches to, rather than quoted on its own.
Features
24 V DC, 7 A, 170 W. The standard supply rail for SAILOR radio
equipment.
Automatic mains-to-battery switchover. No gap in supply, and nothing for
the crew to switch by hand.
Dual AC input. 110/127 V AC (T2A fuse) or 220/237 V AC (T1A fuse), 160 VA,
50/60 Hz - one part for either regional standard.
-15 to +55 degrees C, 93% RH. Suits an unheated tropical equipment space
as well as a cold climate.
5.0 kg, 225 x 168 x 97 mm. Excluding cable seals.
Part of the type approval. The manufacturer's own supply, not a generic
equivalent rating.
Applications
Sourced from FC Marine's SAILOR N163S listing, cross-checked against SatelliteWorldStore
and Bluesat.
Non-DSC VHF installations. Feeding working radio sets.
Radio room refits. Replacing an aged supply.
Offshore radio installations. Platform and FPSO radio
positions.
Support & Documents
PT Vivo Asia Teknologi Indonesia supplies and services radio and GMDSS equipment as
part of a compliant installation rather than as a boxed item. Our scope typically covers:
Selection against the vessel's or facility's carriage requirements and area of operation.
Installation design: antenna siting, feeder runs, power supplies and battery backup.
Supply, installation, termination and commissioning.
Radio survey support, and coordination with class and flag administration where needed.
Programming, channel plans and licence documentation.
Annual testing, battery replacement and ongoing maintenance.
Approvals, frequencies and electrical details vary by variant and market and are
confirmed against the current manufacturer datasheet at quotation stage. Tell us the
vessel type or site, the flag and the equipment already installed, and we will come back
with the right variant and a full bill of materials.
