Description
The 6080 is a module rather than a boxed power supply. A SAILOR 6081 PSU and charger is
built out of them: one module for a small installation, up to four for a large one, sharing
the load between them. That is why it belongs in a bill of materials as a quantity rather
than as a single item.
It is worth being precise about the rating. Our printed catalogue lists this line at
300 W, while Cobham Satcom's current product data rates each 6080 module at 270 W, with four
modules giving up to 1200 W. We quote the manufacturer's figure, and the exact rating for
your configuration is confirmed against their datasheet at quotation.
Because the architecture is modular, the question at design stage is not which supply to
buy but how many modules the installation needs now and how much headroom to leave. Adding a
module later is a far cheaper route to more power than replacing a fixed-rating supply, and
that is the main reason this arrangement gets specified.
