A remote speaker microphone moves the speaker and the press-to-talk from the radio on the
belt up to the shoulder, which is what makes a radio usable while working. The user hears
traffic without leaning down, and can transmit without unclipping anything. On a site where
people are wearing gloves, harnesses and hearing protection, that difference decides whether
the radio is actually used.
The NS750 carries two PTT buttons: a large front PTT for gloved-hand use and a side PTT for
one-handed operation without letting go of a tool or a rail. For audio, a Nexus connector
accepts a 3rd-party headset (including communication-enabled hearing protection), while a
3.5 mm jack takes conventional earpieces, so one accessory covers both a high-noise ear
defender and a discreet earpiece.
It is IP68 rated for full water and dust ingress protection, and TIA4950 (UL) rated so
that fitting it does not compromise the radio's hazardous-location approval - a reason to
specify the manufacturer's accessory rather than a generic equivalent.
