GAI-Tronics XDM005A: 16 inch noise-cancelling gooseneck on a weighted, non-skid base.
The GAI-Tronics XDM005A is a desktop gooseneck microphone with a 16 inch adjustable aluminium neck, noise-cancelling capsule, and a stable weighted base with non-skid rubber mounts. It runs from 3 V DC phantom power on a 10 foot cord terminating in a 3.5 mm plug with RCA adapter.
16 inch adjustable neck – holds the set position without drooping
Noise-cancelling capsule, -40 dB (+/-2 dB) sensitivity
Weighted, non-skid base – free-standing, no installation labour
Sensitivity-40 dB +/-2 dB (0 dB = 1 V/Pa at 1 kHz)
Power3 V DC phantom

Description
The microphone is where every announcement starts, and it does more to determine whether
people understand it than anything downstream. Amplifiers and loudspeakers can only
distribute what they are given; if the input is a distant, off-axis voice with the plant
behind it, no amount of output power will make it clear.
The XDM005A solves this by geometry and by material. Its 16 inch neck is adjustable
aluminium - stiff enough to hold whatever shape it is bent into, so the capsule sits at the
same distance and angle for every announcement rather than drooping back to a default
position over time, which is the usual failure of a cheaper gooseneck after a few months of
daily use. The capsule itself is noise-cancelling, rated at -40 dB (+/-2 dB, 0 dB referenced
to 1 V/Pa at 1 kHz) - a sensitivity chosen to favour close speech over the room rather than
picking up everything equally.
GAI-Tronics specify it as free-standing: a stable weighted base with non-skid rubber mounts
means it sits on a desk or console shelf without fixing, and needs no installation labour to
deploy. It draws 3 V DC phantom power and terminates in a 10 foot cord ending in a 3.5 mm
monaural plug with an RCA adapter, which is what lets it connect directly to consoles such as
the GAI-Tronics XAAB002A rather than requiring a bespoke interface.
Holding position frees both hands, which matters at a real paging console - an operator
selecting zones, watching a screen or reading from an emergency procedure needs their hands
for those things, not for holding a microphone. Where the announcement position is in a
genuinely loud space, the better answer is often a handset or headset rather than an open
microphone of any kind, and we would say so rather than sell a gooseneck into a position it
cannot serve.
Features
16 inch adjustable aluminium neck. Holds its set shape rather than
sagging back over months of use.
Noise-cancelling, -40 dB sensitivity. Favours close speech over ambient
room noise.
Weighted, non-skid base. Free-standing on a desk or console shelf, no
installation labour.
3 V DC phantom power. Standard powering, no bespoke supply.
10 ft cord, 3.5 mm plug with RCA adapter. Connects directly to consoles
such as the GAI-Tronics XAAB002A.
Hands free. The operator can select zones and read a procedure while
speaking.
Applications
Sourced from GAI-Tronics' own XDM005A product page. Wherever announcements are made from a
fixed position.
Central control rooms. The main site paging position.
Security and gatehouse desks. Local announcements and vehicle
calls.
Bridge and marine control positions. Vessel and platform
announcements.
Reception and administration. General paging in office and welfare
areas.
Emergency response positions. Where announcements are read from a
procedure under pressure.
Zone paging stations. Local desks calling defined areas.
Support & Documents
PT Vivo Asia Teknologi Indonesia designs and commissions public address and general
alarm systems rather than simply supplying the parts. Our scope typically covers:
Acoustic coverage study against your layout and measured background noise levels.
Loudspeaker selection, placement, tapping and zone design.
Amplifier, controller and cabling design, including line monitoring where required.
Supply, installation, termination and commissioning.
Intelligibility testing and sign-off against the applicable standard.
Integration with fire and gas detection, ESD and telephone systems.
Operator training, spares provisioning and ongoing maintenance.
Ratings, approvals and acoustic figures vary by model and are confirmed against the
current manufacturer datasheet at quotation stage. Tell us the areas to be covered, the
hazardous-area classification and the noise levels you are working against, and we will
come back with a coverage design and a full bill of materials.
