COMB, MAXIMUS MBX and OHEGBB: communication and junction boxes for camera field wiring.

Pelco communication boxes house the terminations and auxiliary cards behind a camera. The range covers the weatherproof COMB, the explosion-proof stainless steel MAXIMUS MBX, and the OHEGBB external junction box rated to IP55.

  • COMB weatherproof box for rugged environments
  • MAXIMUS MBX explosion-proof, stainless steel, for hazardous sites
  • OHEGBB external junction box, IP55, for harnesses and auxiliary cards

Description

Every field camera needs somewhere for cables to be joined, for auxiliary cards to sit, and for the transition between site cabling and the camera's own tails to be made. Doing that inside the camera housing is bad practice: it means opening the camera for any cabling change, and it crowds an enclosure whose seal is the only thing protecting the optics. A box alongside the camera keeps the two jobs separate.

Pelco's range maps onto the three situations you actually meet. The COMB is the weatherproof box for rugged environments - the ordinary outdoor case. The MAXIMUS MBX is explosion-proof and built in stainless steel, for hazardous sites where the box is part of the certified installation and the atmosphere is usually corrosive as well. The OHEGBB is an external junction box to weatherproof standard IP55, intended for housing wiring harnesses or auxiliary cards.

Once there is a box, the installation becomes serviceable. A technician can isolate, re-terminate, test and fault-find at the box without breaking the camera's seal, which on a coastal or offshore site is exactly the intervention you want to avoid repeating. Spare cores can be parked, auxiliary cards housed, and the cable schedule gains a defined, documented break point.

The details that decide whether one of these lasts are unglamorous: entries specified and glanded properly rather than drilled on site, the gland plate arranged so water cannot track in, and enough internal volume to work in with gloves on. In a classified area the box, its entries and its glands all have to match the zone and gas group in the same way the camera does. We specify boxes as part of the installation design rather than picking them up at the end of it.

Features

  • COMB. Weatherproof communication box for rugged environments.
  • MAXIMUS MBX. Explosion-proof and stainless steel, for hazardous sites.
  • OHEGBB. External junction box to IP55, for wiring harnesses or auxiliary cards.
  • Multiple connection options. Pelco's stated purpose for the range is facilitating device integration.
  • Serviceable installation. Isolate, re-terminate and test without breaking the camera's seal.
  • Documented break point. A defined boundary between site cabling and camera tails, which makes later fault-finding quicker.

Applications

A box appears wherever a camera is more than a short run from its equipment room.

  • Mast and pole-mounted cameras. Terminations at height, kept out of the camera housing.
  • Perimeter runs. Break points along a fence line, and spare cores for later additions.
  • Jetties and marine structures. Stainless against constant salt exposure.
  • Classified areas. MAXIMUS MBX forming part of the approved installation.
  • Wash-down areas. Food, water treatment and process areas where hosing is routine.
  • Retrofits. Where new cameras have to be joined into cabling already installed.

Support & Documents

PT Vivo Asia Teknologi Indonesia supplies surveillance equipment as part of a designed and commissioned system rather than as a boxed item. Our scope typically covers:

  • Site survey, camera placement and field-of-view study against your actual site.
  • System design, including transmission, power, recording capacity and mounting.
  • Supply, installation, termination and commissioning.
  • Integration with your VMS, access control and PAGA or alarm systems.
  • Analytics configuration and tuning to bring false alarms down to a workable level.
  • Operator and maintainer training, with ongoing maintenance and support.

Optical, electrical and approval details vary by variant and are confirmed against the current manufacturer datasheet at quotation stage. Tell us the area to be covered, the detection distance you need and the site conditions, and we will come back with the right variant and a full bill of materials.
