Weatherproof IP Cameras

Rugged-environment IP cameras, ONVIF-conformant so they suit the VMS you already run.

Pelco build IP cameras for rugged environments as well as discreet indoor ones. They are ONVIF-conformant, so they integrate with any conformant video management system rather than locking the site to one supplier.

  • Built for rugged environments, not adapted to them
  • ONVIF-conformant: works with any conformant VMS
  • AI-driven insights and real-time alerts on the camera itself

Description

A weatherproof IP camera is the ordinary building block of outdoor surveillance on an industrial site. Two things separate it from an indoor camera: the enclosure is sealed against driven rain, dust and wash-down, and the video leaves the camera as a network stream rather than as an analogue signal on coaxial cable.

The network part matters more than it first appears. Because the camera is an IP device it shares the structured cabling and switches already on site, and it is added to the recording system as a configuration change rather than as a new cable run back to a matrix. Adding a camera later becomes a question of whether there is a spare port near it, which is a much easier problem than pulling coaxial across a live plant.

Pelco make a point of being ONVIF-conformant, and that is worth understanding before you buy anything. ONVIF is the interoperability standard for network video: a conformant camera will work with a conformant VMS regardless of who made either. In practice it means a site can add cameras to the recorder it already has, or change VMS later, without replacing the cameras - which on a large installation is the difference between an upgrade and a rebuild. Pelco describe their devices as an open platform for exactly this reason.

Their current cameras also carry analytics on the device, producing what Pelco call AI-driven insights and real-time alerts rather than simply recording. That shifts a site from someone watching monitors to the system raising something worth looking at, which is the only approach that scales past a handful of cameras. Which model suits a given position depends on the distance at which you need to detect, recognise or identify, and that is what a field-of-view study settles.

Features

  • ONVIF-conformant. Integrates with any conformant VMS, so cameras and recording software are not tied to each other.
  • Made for rugged environments. Pelco's range spans hard outdoor duty through to discreet indoor models.
  • On-camera AI. AI-driven insights and real-time alerts, so the system flags events rather than only storing them.
  • Open platform devices. Pelco's stated design position, which keeps a future VMS change from meaning new cameras.
  • IP video over existing cabling. Uses the site network and switches rather than dedicated coaxial runs.
  • Cloud-based options. Pelco offer cloud-based AI alongside on-premises recording.

Applications

Weatherproof IP cameras cover most of the outdoor surveillance on a working site, from the boundary inwards.

  • Oil, gas and petrochemical. Tank farms, process roads, jetties and loading racks.
  • Ports, terminals and marine facilities. Quaysides, gates and container yards, where salt air is constant.
  • Power generation and utilities. Switchyards, compounds and unmanned substations.
  • Water and wastewater treatment. Open basins and wash-down areas.
  • Mining and bulk handling. Conveyors and stockpiles, where dust rather than water is the problem.
  • Logistics and industrial estates. Yards, vehicle gates and loading aprons.

A site rarely uses one type. Weatherproof cameras handle the defined scenes, PTZ units cover the open areas, and thermal is added where detection has to work without light.

Support & Documents

PT Vivo Asia Teknologi Indonesia supplies surveillance equipment as part of a designed and commissioned system rather than as a boxed item. Our scope typically covers:

  • Site survey, camera placement and field-of-view study against your actual site.
  • System design, including transmission, power, recording capacity and mounting.
  • Supply, installation, termination and commissioning.
  • Integration with your VMS, access control and PAGA or alarm systems.
  • Analytics configuration and tuning to bring false alarms down to a workable level.
  • Operator and maintainer training, with ongoing maintenance and support.

Optical, electrical and approval details vary by variant and are confirmed against the current manufacturer datasheet at quotation stage. Tell us the area to be covered, the detection distance you need and the site conditions, and we will come back with the right variant and a full bill of materials.
